Color keying and basic color correction

The is a quick introduction to “Compositing”  –  creating a shot out of different elements (green screen footage/ videos or images) and blending them (realistically/ graphic style) together.

Green Screen

Green Screen Vs. Blue Screen:

When shooting people green screen usually works better. However, if your subject wears something green ( or when shooting a tree for example) you can always use a blue background.

Tips for Creating A Successful Demo Reel
1.  KEEP IT SHORT

My personal opinion is 60 to 90 seconds for most cases

2.  PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD

Make sure you lead with your strongest work

3.  SLATE IT

include your name and contact information on a quick slate at the start and end of your reel.

4.  CUT TO THE BEAT

Present yourself as a professional by cutting to the music

5.  SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY

Use your reel to showcase you

Assignment 06 – “How to?”

Concept

You are all experts at a specific field, spread your passion and teach someone something.  “How to” videos ( such as instructions, tutorials, recipes, etc) are the most viewed videos ( right after cute cats and dogs…).

Create a short animation  that explains “How to” make something.

All of your instructions should be narrated.

All of your narration text should appear on screen.

Don’t just add subtitles – think how to incorporate your text within the screen composition

This assignment is focused on working with sound and narration, kinetic type animation and motion design, transitions,  timing and conceptual delivery.

Length:

20-30 seconds
